About

My name is Ashanna Molokwu and I am a writer. Which you already know by now.

The truth is, I don’t like About Me pages. I find them redundant and boring: two things I refuse to be. Plus, what is there to even say on these things other than the typical? “Hi, my name is ___. I am from ___ and I live in ___. I am ___ years old. My favorite hobbies are ___, ___, and ___.”

I could tell you the exact location I hail from, but if you’ve heard me speak and picked up on my over usage of the words ‘like’ and ‘literally’, you’d know I came into this world kicking and screaming on the leftest side of the coast, where anything below 70 degrees is considered freezing.

I could tell you exactly where I live, but that’s a safety hazard— and the City of Angels is actually Gotham.

I could tell you my exact numeric age, but I’d rather tell you that I narrowly escaped my quarter-life crisis two years ago— and I’m still recovering from it.

I could name my favorite hobbies, but I’d rather show you on my OOO (Out of Office) tab. Before you head there: make sure you have your sound all the way up, and your reading glasses perched on your nose.

I could tell you a lot of things about me. I could tell you that I stand at 5’2 but carry myself like I am 10 feet tall. That I curl my feet when I walk around my apartment barefoot. That my favorite color is marigold yellow, yet my wardrobe is entirely black. That my neighbors probably think there are least 5 people crammed into my 1-bedroom, even though it’s just me and my Jack Russell Terrier, Kobe, which is due to the fact that I loudly (and shamelessly) talk to myself— because if you can’t have a real conversation with yourself, you can’t have a real conversation with anyone.

I could tell you that I am a copywriter by profession, but a writer by blood. Not that my family is full of writers— quite the opposite, actually. But considering my deep adoration for the art, my passion for the pen…you’d think I came out the womb with ink all over my hands.
